How do the conflicts of the contemporary world shape psychic life and enter the consulting room? What can psychoanalysis contribute to understanding violence and finding ways to coexist?
These questions will be explored at “Guerra e pace” — “War and Peace”, a seminar taking place on October 24, 2026, with the participation of Claudio Mele. The event is part of the La contemporaneità in discussione, organised by the cultural association Fattore Umano–LAPEF, and will be held online via Zoom. In his presentation, Claudio will address war, conflict and violence inside and outside the consulting room. His reflections will connect individual experience with social, political and economic contexts, exploring how fear, polarisation, emotional exhaustion and a loss of meaning affect subjectivity. The presentation will also examine the contributions and limitations of analytical psychology in addressing these phenomena. Drawing on authors such as Jung and James Hillman, it will seek to broaden our understanding of violence by considering its symbolic and collective dimensions and the importance of a multidisciplinary approach.
The seminar will also feature Stefano Petrucciani and Daniele Balicco, with Mariannina Failla chairing the session. The programme includes presentations and time for discussion with participants.
